NOTE: When I talked with my Paternayan representative before Christmas, she said that they would be making an announcement after the beginning of the year. I do not know if this will be a timeframe for catching up or a notice that they will close. As soon as I know something from them, I will post it here. Please check my inventory by clicking the link below so you have an idea of what I have before you order. Thanks.
Paternayan Persian Yarn is well known the world over for its superiority for needlework. A major benefit of Persian yarn comes from its versatility. The yarn provides superior coverage on a wide range of canvas sizes by simply varying the number of strands used in the stitching. A single strand of Paternayan Persian is ideal for cross stitching on Aida cloth and fine embroidery on linen.
Plying, the act of separating the three strands, is always necessary before stitching. Even when three strands are used, plying is still needed so the yarn will lie smoothly on the canvas.
Use 3 ply for #10 canvas, 2 ply for #12 and #14 canvas, and 1 ply for #18 canvas.
Knot = 10 strands of 3 ply yarn, approx 30" in length (more than 8 yards) - $0.99
1/8 lb Hank is half of 1/4 lb Hank and a little less than 10 knots - $5.99
1/4 lb Hank is approx 170 yards of 3 ply yarn - $10.99
Rule of Thumb: 1 Yard to cover 1 Sq In.
